Monrovia – Former Montserrado County District #8 Representative and staunch stalwart of the opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), Moses Acarous Gray, has raised alarm over what he claims is a coordinated plan to launch both social media and physical attacks against him, allegedly involving officials within the Liberian government and members of the ruling establishment.
Speaking on a local radio in Montserrado, Gray said the alleged plot was disclosed to him by what he called “internal sources” within the government. He cautioned that any attempt at physical confrontation would undermine Liberia’s hard-won democratic gains.
“I pray that such planned physical assaults be aborted because it does not augur well for our democracy,” Gray said, urging government officials to use intellectual debate rather than resorting to violence.
The former lawmaker stressed that he is taking the alleged threats seriously and will adopt the necessary measures under the doctrine of self-defense.
“My God is my protector, and I fear no man,” he declared.
Gray, a well known political figure and vocal critic to the Unity Party government did not provide specific details of the alleged plan but warned that any escalation of hostilities could have broader implications for political tolerance and stability in the country.
Authorities are yet to respond to the allegations upon the publication of this story.
