Who’s After Nuquay’s Life? Chief Clerk Raises Alarm Over Death Threats Against Margibi Senator

Margibi, Liberia – Edwin Quiqui Lombeh, Chief Clerk in the office of Margibi County Senator Emmanuel Nuquay, has raised concerns about threats to the senator’s life following a heated political dispute surrounding the petroleum sector.

According to Mr. Lombeh, the threats began shortly after Senator Nuquay appeared on Voice of Liberia radio Friday night, where he defended his actions related to recent controversies involving the petroleum industry.

“Since last night, Senator Emmanuel Nuquay has been receiving threatening messages,” Lombeh posted on Facebook. “He didn’t do anything wrong. He only acted in the interest of the state by standing against those attempting to loot the petroleum sector.”

The threats come in the wake of a public clash between Senator Nuquay and Nimba County District #7 Representative Musa Bility, who is also the CEO of Srimex Petroleum. Representative Bility had earlier accused Nuquay of manipulating petroleum policies for political gain and labeled him a “criminal” during a tense exchange over the airwaves.

In response, Senator Nuquay issued a public challenge to Bility during his radio appearance, denying all allegations and inviting an open investigation into the matter.

Chief Clerk Lombeh said his office will not take the threats lightly and is already working to identify those responsible.

“We will expose those who are involved after our investigation,” he vowed.

It remains unclear whether formal complaints have been filed with security authorities. Meanwhile, the situation has added fuel to an already contentious political atmosphere, especially as scrutiny intensifies over the country’s management of its petroleum resources.
