Hours after Verity News released a report on an alleged rape scandal involving a top official of government, the Ministry of Youth and Sports has confirmed that its Deputy Minister for Youth Development, Mr. J. Bryant McGill, is under criminal investigation by the Liberia National Police (LNP) following grave allegations of sexual misconduct involving a minor.
According to the Ministry, the complaint was filed by the alleged victim’s father, Christopher Davis, who also works at the Ministry.
In a statement Thursday, September 11, 2025, the Ministry said it is taking the matter seriously and has pledged full cooperation with law enforcement to ensure a transparent and impartial process.

To avoid any perception of interference, Minister McGill has requested a leave of absence, which the Ministry has accepted and forwarded to the President’s office for action.
“The Ministry reaffirms its commitment to upholding the law, safeguarding the integrity of public service, and protecting the well-being of young people,” the release stated.
The Ministry also urged the public and the media to allow the police investigation to proceed without interference, promising further updates as the case develops.
