Monrovia, Liberia–In a landmark moment for national infrastructure and digital progress, Orange Liberia has officially opened its ultra-modern headquarters, Icon 16, in central Monrovia.
The event, held on May 16, marked a significant stride forward for the country’s technology sector and was attended by a host of dignitaries, business leaders, and development stakeholders.
President Joseph Nyuma Boakai delivered the keynote address, commending Orange Liberia for its unwavering investment in Liberia’s growth and its role as a vital contributor to national revenue and development.
“Orange Liberia is more than a telecom provider; it is a reliable development partner,” the President stated.
Icon 16, named to commemorate its May 16 debut- is being celebrated as Liberia’s most technologically advanced commercial building.
The structure features cutting-edge smart office systems, eco-friendly design elements, and a sleek architectural finish, positioning it as a benchmark for future corporate facilities in the country.
The launch event radiated national pride and optimism. Guests were treated to cultural performances and heartfelt testimonials from Orange Liberia employees and customers, highlighting the company have continued efforts to bridge the digital divide and promote connectivity across Liberia.
Orange Liberia’s CEO Jean-Marius Yao emphasized that Icon 16 is more than just a building, stating that it symbolizes resilience, transformation, and the company’s long-term commitment to driving technological and economic empowerment in Liberia.

CEO Yao positioned Icon16 as a landmark of confidence in Liberia’s potential to host world-class infrastructure.
He emphasized that the building aligns with Orange Group’s wider mission across Africa: leading digital transformation, promoting sustainable innovation, and ensuring inclusive growth.
“It’s not just a corporate space,” Yao said. “It’s a hub for employees, customers, and innovation- a world-class environment designed to empower people and foster creativity.”

According to Yao, the building will unit over 400 employees under one roof will significantly boost collaboration, innovation, and operational efficiency- a catalyst for accelerating Liberia’s digital evolution.
Orange Liberia’s influence, however, extends far beyond its new headquarters.
As one of the top three taxpayers in the country, the company has contributed over $291 million in taxes and fees. It has also invested more than $250 million into vital infrastructure projects, including the national fiber backbone and Buchanan Data Center.
Through services like Orange Money, Orange Energies, and initiatives led by the Orange Liberia Foundation, the company continues to champion inclusion, providing access to free digital education, healthcare, and cultural support across all counties.
Looking Ahead
Reflecting on Orange Liberia’s journey from its origins as Cellcom, CEO Yao noted that Icon16 represents not just relocation but a transformation.

Yao announced plans to invest an additional $200 million over the next six years to further modernize Orange’s network and expand its footprint across Liberia.
