President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., has expressed profound sorrow over the death of former Liberian First Lady Madam Nancy Bohn Doe, describing her passing as a moment of national loss.
In an official statement issued Friday, President Boakai extended heartfelt condolences to the Doe family on behalf of the Government and people of Liberia. He praised the former First Lady for her grace, dignity, and steadfast commitment to Liberia during a crucial chapter in the country’s history.
“The late former First Lady served our nation with grace and dignity during a pivotal time in our history,” President Boakai noted. “She carried the responsibilities of her position with strength, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to her family and country.”
Reflecting on his personal experience working with Madam Doe during her tenure as a cabinet minister in the government of her late husband, former Head of State Samuel Kanyon Doe, President Boakai commended her resilience and dedication to public service.
“While history may record the complexities and tumult of that era, we as a nation must rise in acknowledgment of the honorable and courageous path our fallen compatriot took,” he said. “Her life was interwoven with our nation’s often intriguing journey, and she served her country and people with distinction.”
President Boakai urged the nation to pray for her eternal rest and to offer peace and strength to her bereaved family.
“May her soul rest in perfect peace,” he concluded.
