One thing I’ve always advocated for when openly writing about government support for sports is the creation of a society where everyone can pursue their dreams freely without feeling the need to enter government to live the lives they dream of.
A society that provides opportunities across all sectors would be a major step forward, especially for the youth, who make up the majority of our population.
But today, I’m deeply saddened. I’ve come across countless posts from young people expressing their disappointment, calling out the very leaders they risked everything to support during elections. They’re crying out for job opportunities, for access to quality education, for hope. The cry today was the same cry yesterday.
This is the heartbreaking reality of the system we’ve built. Over the years, we built a system designed not to uplift, but to crush the dreams of the youth, while the same recycled politicians continue to milk the nation dry.
Like sports, many other sectors are being ignored or deliberately suppressed since the end of the civil war. The youth only become relevant when it’s time for these politicians to gather support and exploit the system once again.
The saddest part? Nothing is going to change anytime soon.
