Monrovia, Liberia – The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in collaboration with the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC), has announced an increase in the maximum permissible prices for gasoline and fuel oil in Liberia.
The latest updates show that the cost of fuel oil has increased by fifteen cents (US$0.15), while gasoline prices have risen by fourteen cents (US$0.14).
The newly revised prices set the wholesale cost of gasoline at $3.90, with a retail price of $4.18, equivalent to LD$830.00. Meanwhile, the wholesale price for fuel oil is listed at $4.18 and the retail price at $4.46, equivalent to LRD 890.00.
According to the released from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, these price adjustments are reflective of the current exchange rate established by the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL), which stands at LRD 199.00 to USD 1.00 as of July 2, 2025.
In order to ensure adherence to these new price ceilings, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry’s Inspectorate division, in conjunction with a dedicated monitoring team from the LPRC, will enhance oversight of the fuel distribution network.
The release revealed that the plan is designed to prevent unauthorized price hikes at fuel stations, thereby protecting consumer rights and promoting fair competition among importers.
In its statement, the LPRC reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a stable industrial environment, emphasizing that “keeping the wheels of industry turning” remains a top priority.
