Blezee River Bridge in Grand Bassa Poses Life-threatening Risk to Commuters as Authorities Fail to Act

The Blezee Bridge in Grand Bassa County has turned into a deathtrap for commuters and pedestrians, following an incident where it was deliberately set on fire four months ago by an unknown person in the Blezee Administrative District.

The bridge, which crosses over the Blezee River before emptying into the St. John River, is a vital transportation link for people traveling between Bassa, Nimba, Rivercess, and Margibi counties.

Despite repeated calls from commuters for the government to help rebuild the bridge, there have been no sufficient efforts made to address the dangerous situation at hand. As a result, cars have been forced to use a makeshift wooden bridge to cross back and forth, posing a significant risk to the lives and safety of those who rely on its route.

Marketers, traders, and other commuters in the area have been struggling to navigate the underhanded conditions created by the destroyed bridge.

Before attempting to cross the makeshift wooden structure, passengers are required to disembark from their vehicles while the driver and goods dangerously cross, relying solely on faith and luck to make it across safed.

The continued neglect of the Blezee Bridge has left the community in a state of danger, with no clear resolution in sight. “The authorities must urgently address this issue and prioritize the reconstruction of the bridge to prevent any further tragedies from occurring on this essential route,” commuters told Verity News.

The lives of countless individuals depend on swift action to restore safe passage over the Blezee River.
