The Nimba County Chapter of the National Youth League of the Congress for Democratic Change has issued a 72-hour ultimatum to President Joseph Nyuma Boakai to dismiss Charles Roberts over alleged derogatory and threatening remarks directed at Nimba lawmaker Hon. Kortor.
In a strongly worded statement issued Thursday, the CDC National youth league Nimba Chapter accused Roberts of referring to the lawmaker as a “monkey” and allegedly warning that “a security man can’t talk plenty.”
The youth group condemned the alleged remarks as dehumanizing, intimidating and politically unacceptable, arguing that they crossed the line between legitimate political disagreement and personal humiliation.
“This was not ordinary political criticism; it was a calculated act of humiliation, intimidation, and contempt against an elected representative and, by extension, the proud sons and daughters of Nimba County,” the group said.
The youth league is demanding that President Boakai immediately remove Roberts from his government position and require him to issue an unconditional apology to Kortor and the people of Nimba County.
The group identified Roberts as a senior Unity Party partisan and alleged government official serving in a security-related capacity at the National Port Authority.
