LACC Installs Whistleblower Boxes at Key Ministries

The Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) has officially commenced the installation of Whistleblower Boxes at key Ministries, Agencies, and Commissions.

The initiative, spearheaded by LACC’s Education and Prevention Department, marks a proactive step in promoting integrity and accountability across public institutions. Launched on August 15, 2025, the program aims to provide safe, confidential, and accessible reporting channels for public servants and citizens to expose corruption, fraud, abuse of office, and other forms of misconduct.

Phase one of the rollout includes installations at the following locations:

Civil Service Agency (CSA)

Ministry of Education

Ministry of Commerce & Industry

Liberia National Police Headquarters (Capitol Hill), as well as Zone 3 Depot (Congo Town) and Zone 8 Depot (ELWA, Paynesville)

The project is backed by the Government of Liberia and aligns with both LACC’s statutory mandate and Article 33 of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC), which encourages the protection and empowerment of whistleblowers.

In a parallel effort to strengthen anti-corruption mechanisms, the LACC has also embarked on several complementary initiatives:

A one-week working visit to Uganda is currently underway, where LACC officials are engaging with Uganda’s Inspectorate of Government (IG).

The visit forms part of Liberia’s preparations to transition to an electronic asset declaration system by 2026, aiming to enhance transparency in public asset reporting.

The Commission, in partnership with UNDP Liberia and funded by the UN Peacebuilding Fund, recently concluded a two-day media training workshop in Ganta, Nimba County.

The training aimed to build the capacity of journalists and media professionals to report on corruption issues accurately and effectively.

Additionally, the Executive Chairperson of LACC, Cllr. Alexandra K. Zoe, met with a delegation from the International Development Law Organization (IDLO).

The delegation, led by Country Manager Madam Chinyelumugo Okoh, discussed opportunities for legal and institutional collaboration in advancing anti-corruption efforts.
The LACC says it remains committed to building robust, people-centered systems for accountability and citizen engagement.

As part of its broader strategy, the Commission continues to emphasize preventive education, international cooperation, and digital reforms in its anti-corruption framework.
