UNICEF Reaffirms Support for Education and Health in Rivercess

Cestos City, River Cess County – The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has renewed its commitment to improving the future of children in Rivercess through expanded support for education and health programs.

Speaking on behalf of the agency, UNICEF’s volunteer representative in Rivercess, Mr. Gabriel B. Sawah, outlined several ongoing interventions designed to uplift children in the county. Among them is the Back to My Classroom campaign, a program fully financed by UNICEF in partnership with the Ministry of Education to encourage school enrollment and retention.

Mr. Sawah also underscored the growing voice of young people in decision-making, noting that River Cess has secured representation at the national level through the Liberian Children’s Paramount, with Lydia Harris currently serving as Vice Chair.

He described this milestone as a reflection of the progress in adolescent participation across the county.

Additionally, Sawah highlighted the implementation of the Nurture, Empower Project (NEP), jointly executed with other UN partners including UNFPA. The program is designed to assess and strengthen the potential of adolescents in River Cess, Montserrado, and Grand Gedeh Counties.

He assured that UNICEF remains committed to standing with the Government of Liberia in advancing better education and creating improved opportunities for every Liberian child.
