“I Will Stone Him”: Defeated Candidate Gaye Threatens Senator in Shocking Post

By D. Abraham Cooper Sr.

TUZON, Grand Gedeh County – A fresh wave of political unrest has hit Grand Gedeh County following a public threat made by Harry Zohn Gaye Sr., a defeated candidate for the Gbarzon Electoral District #3 seat, against sitting Senator Thomas Yaya Nimely.

In a statement posted on his social media page on Wednesday, October 1, Gaye issued a direct warning to Senator Nimely, advising him to stay away from Tuzon ~ Gaye’s hometown and a historically significant town in southeastern Liberia. Tuzon is notably the birthplace of former President Samuel K. Doe and current Grand Gedeh County Senator Zoe Emmanuel Pennue.

Gaye, who ran unsuccessfully in the 2023 legislative elections and previously supported Nimely on the same party ticket, accused the senator of being a “rebel leader” who “does not respect anyone.” His post marks a sharp departure from his earlier political alliance with the senator.

The situation escalated further when Gaye ended his post with a threat of violence, declaring that any attempt by Senator Nimely to enter Tuzon would be met with hostility. “I will personally stone Senator Nimely if he dares step foot in Tuzon,” Gaye wrote.

Senator Nimely, who currently chairs the Grand Gedeh County Legislative Caucus, has yet to issue a public response to the allegations and threats made against him.

Efforts to reach Senator Nimely for comment remain ongoing.

The incident has sparked widespread concern across the county, with citizens and political observers warning that such rhetoric could inflame local tensions and undermine peace in the region.
