Former Liberian Assistant Minister for International Organizations, Hon. Karishma Pelham-Raad, has been honored with the African Young Icon in Public Service of the Year Award at the Democracy Heroes Award Africa 2025, held at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja, Nigeria.
The prestigious ceremony, themed “Legacy of Leadership: Powering Africa’s Future,” celebrated distinguished African leaders and institutions advancing democracy, integrity, and public service across the continent.
Hon. Pelham-Raad, a respected diplomat and development advocate, earned recognition for her exceptional service in international diplomacy, youth empowerment, and leadership notably as National Campaign Chairperson for Liberia’s successful bid to the United Nations Security Council (2026–2027).
Expressing gratitude for the honor, Pelham-Raad said the award was a tribute not just to her personal journey but to Liberia’s growing influence in global and continental affairs.
“I am deeply honored and humbled to receive this recognition. This award reminds me that our efforts in diplomacy and public service continue to make an impact. I dedicate it to the people of Liberia, whose resilience inspires my continued commitment to leadership and nation-building,” she said.
Recently completing an executive program at Harvard Business School and preparing to attend a study program at Peking University in China, Pelham-Raad continues to represent Liberia on major international platforms with distinction.
