Grand Gedeh County officials have finalized a major {30-year} lease agreement with Burkinabé national Boubou Sebu, securing a {500}-acre plot in the B’hai administrative district solely for cocoa farming.

The deal, signed on Saturday, is effective immediately and promises a significant injection of funds into the local economy.

The agreement was formally inked during a ceremony at the Superintendent Tubman Palace office.

Superintendent Grant outlined the financial specifics of the {30-year} partnership.

He announced that for the initial ten years, Mr. Sebu is committed to paying $150,000 USD, with the entire amount directed straight to the County Development Fund.

“Over the full {30-year} period, Grand Gedeh County is slated to receive a total of $600,000 USD,” Superintendent Grant stated, underscoring the long-term benefits of the investment.

County Attorney E. Wilkins Nah confirmed the legal preparedness of the contract, assuring citizens that “every legal document is set to protect the local forest” as stipulated in the agreement.

Boubou Sebu thanked the local authority for the opportunity and confirmed his commitment to using the leased land exclusively for cocoa production, a crop expected to boost the region’s agricultural sector.
