Lib-Energy Cracks Down on Technician Extortion Amid Customer Complaints

By D Abraham Cooper Sr

The management of Lib-Energy’s Grand Gedeh and Tapitta grids has issued a strong warning to its field technicians, condemning and strictly prohibiting any alleged attempts to extort fees from customers for meter installations or other electrical materials.

In a press statement released today, Wednesday, November 5, 2025, the management emphasized that all official payments must be made only through designated Lib-Energy offices or approved third-party vendor centers located across the two grids. Customers are urged to report any unauthorized collection of fees immediately.

Addressing Prepaid Meter Concerns

The management also took time to address growing customer concerns regarding claims that money loaded into prepaid meters “disappears” when power goes off and subsequently returns.

Lib-Energy categorically refuted this claim, assuring the public that their prepaid meters meet international standards and function reliably, similar to metering systems used globally. They underscored their commitment to providing consistent and quality service delivery.

Looking forward, Lib-Energy announced significant plans for network expansion. The company has concluded plans to purchase additional transformers and poles to extend its service area into Harper, Kanweaken, Zwedru, Maryland, and River Gee respectively.

In a move to enhance customer convenience, Lib-Energy officially announced an ongoing collaboration with Lonestar MTN, enabling customers to conveniently recharge their prepaid meters via the mobile platform.

Finally, the management confirmed the immediate installation of four transformers that were recently purchased by Representative Jacob C. Debee. These installations are set for Zai Town, Pour Town, Tian Town, and Poker Town.

Customers residing in these specific areas will receive prepaid meters as soon as the transformers are installed and energized, marking a key step in bringing reliable electricity to these communities.
