It was reported by Verity Online News and Spoon Network in September, quoting court documents that Wilmot Smith, former director-general of the Liberia Institute of Statistics and Geo Information Services (LISGIS), was a fugitive.
Cllr. Arthur Johnson, who has been representing Smith in several case, broke silence that he had informed the court that his client traveled to the United States of America to undergo medical check-ups.
“Hence, I won the government of Liberia in court. A lie is a lie and doesn’t become true even if everyone believes it.
“The government of Liberia was mandated on January 6, 2025 to reinstate me and pay all my arrears.
“Sadly, it’s yet to happen after all the trauma and exposure I and my children have suffered as a result of the sustained defamation and blackmail,” Smith wrote on his Facebook page on 11 November.
Smith is shortly due in Liberia.
