Zota District Residents Cry for Network Tower as Communication Crisis Worsens

KPOLOYAH, ZOTA — Residents of Kpoloyah, Yowee, and several surrounding villages in Zota District are urgently appealing to Bong County Senator Prince Kermue Moye Sr. and the national government to construct a communication tower in the area, citing growing concerns over the complete lack of mobile network coverage.

According to locals, the absence of a functional network has forced them to travel long distances—sometimes deep into the forest—just to access mobile signals. They say the communication blackout has endangered the lives of many families, especially pregnant women and children suffering from malaria and other illnesses.

One resident explained that delays in seeking medical help due to the inability to make calls have nearly resulted in fatalities, warning that the situation could become more tragic if authorities fail to intervene. Citizens are calling for immediate government action to prevent further health and security risks.

Despite these challenges, Kpoloyah has recently recorded notable developments that have brought some relief and celebration to the community. Senator Moye, who has been engaging directly with residents, recently donated 25 solar streetlights and led the reconstruction of the Kpoloyah Elementary School.

The senator pledged the solar lights on September 14, 2025, during the dedication of the newly reconstructed school—an initiative undertaken in partnership with residents of the town. He also committed LD$200,000 to support student registration fees and pay volunteer teachers. A week later, he delivered LD$100,000 and the 25 solar lights to Mr. Joseph Cammue, a prominent son of Kpoloyah and CEO of Success Pharmacy and Construction Company, assuring that the remaining balance would be provided soon.

During the official installation and handover ceremony, women, youth, and elders expressed deep gratitude to Senator Moye for fulfilling his promises. They recounted decades of struggles without electricity and adequate educational infrastructure, describing the senator’s intervention as a significant step toward improving living conditions.

Residents offered prayers for Senator Moye, Mr. Cammue, and other contributors, hoping they will continue to be strengthened and empowered to uplift underserved communities.

Still, citizens insist that while the new lights and refurbished school have brought joy, addressing the communication crisis remains the district’s most urgent need. They are calling on authorities to act swiftly to avert further health and safety risks.
