Infant Goes Missing at Martha Tubman Hospital; Investigation Intensifies

By D. Abraham Cooper Sr.

A frantic search is underway in Zwedru after a newborn infant was reportedly abducted from the Martha Tubman Memorial Hospital early Sunday morning, sparking outrage, fear, and growing community unrest.

According to preliminary information, the baby was discovered missing at approximately 2:55 a.m. on November 16, 2025, under circumstances authorities say remain unclear. The incident has been described as a shocking breach of security at one of the county’s principal medical institutions.

News of the disappearance spread rapidly throughout Zwedru, drawing throngs of residents to the hospital grounds. Grief-stricken family members, led by the infant’s mother, Tracy Nuahn, demanded answers and swift action from hospital authorities.

“This is an unthinkable breach of security,” said one resident, who asked not to be named. Many in the crowd echoed the sentiment, expressing fear not only for the missing child but for the safety of other patients.

Speaking to journalists, Nuahn issued a blunt and emotional plea to the hospital administration: “Bring my child back with immediate effect.” She insisted her baby was in good health and had been expected to be discharged soon, adding to suspicions surrounding the timing of the abduction.

Hospital Administrator Thomas Q. Neewray confirmed the disappearance, calling it the “first of its kind” incident at the facility. He urged the public to remain calm as authorities work to unravel what happened.

Neewray said internal reviews were underway but appealed for patience from the distressed family and concerned community members. Despite this, frustrations continue to mount as many question how such a breach could occur in a maternity ward.

While an official statement from law enforcement is still pending, sources indicate the case has been prioritized by senior officers of the Grand Gedeh County Police. Investigators are focusing on tracing the infant’s whereabouts and determining how an unauthorized individual could have gained access to the newborn.

The disappearance has renewed public debate over hospital security in the region, with many calling for immediate reforms.

As of press time, the infant remains missing, and authorities face increasing pressure to produce answers as the community waits in anguish for news of the child’s safe return.
