Liberia’s campaign against Mpox has received a major boost following the arrival of a shipment of 42,720 vaccine doses from the Government of the United States.
According to health authorities, the vaccines — intended to curb human-to-human transmission — will be distributed nationwide, with priority given to individuals at higher risk of infection. Frontline health workers, considered the most exposed due to their daily interaction with patients, are expected to benefit first from the rollout.
The Ministry of Health described the donation as a timely intervention that strengthens the country’s preparedness and response capacity. Officials extended thanks and appreciation to the U.S. Government and the American people for what they termed continued collaboration and commitment to safeguarding public health in Liberia.
The newly arrived doses are expected to be deployed in the coming days as part of ongoing efforts to contain Mpox and protect vulnerable communities.
