WAYZOHN CITY, Grand Bassa County — Police in Grand Bassa County have launched an investigation into an alleged assault that reportedly occurred at the residence of Electoral District #4 Representative, Alfred Hezekiah Flomo, in the early hours of January 2, 2026.
The alleged victim, Ezekiel Yarway, who claims to be a supporter of Rep. Flomo, told Verity News that he was assaulted following a sports tournament held on New Year’s Day. According to Yarway, he and another supporter identified as Roland were instructed by the lawmaker to meet him at his residence after the tournament.
Yarway said they arrived at the residence between 12:00 a.m. and 1:00 a.m. on January 2. Upon arrival, he attempted to see the representative but was informed by a caretaker, identified as Robert Suah, that Rep. Flomo was already asleep.
In an effort to draw attention, Yarway reportedly attempted to switch off the generator supplying electricity to the house. This action, he said, led to a confrontation that escalated into violence.
Yarway alleged that Moses Flomo, described as an in-law of the lawmaker, engaged him in a physical fight during which he sustained injuries. He further claimed that he was flogged during the incident.
However, Moses Flomo has denied the allegations, stating that he did not use any weapon against Yarway. According to Moses, the injuries sustained by Yarway occurred when Roland allegedly struck him from behind, causing both men to fall onto the generator.
The Liberia National Police have since taken up the matter and are investigating to establish the facts surrounding the incident and determine any necessary legal action.
As of press time, Representative Alfred Hezekiah Flomo had not publicly commented on the matter
