Senator Bartekwa Donates Medical Supplies to Grand Kru Health Sector

By Patrick Teah, Jr.

Grand Kru County — Grand Kru County Senator Numeneh Bartekwa has donated a 40-foot container of assorted medical supplies to the Grand Kru County Health Team (CHT), in a move aimed at easing persistent healthcare challenges and improving service delivery across the county.

The donation was officially presented on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at the CHT compound in Barclayville City, marking a significant boost to the county’s struggling health sector, particularly in underserved rural communities.

Speaking through his representative, Mr. Edwin Kayjlay, Senator Bartekwa reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery in Grand Kru County, noting that limited access to essential medical supplies continues to undermine effective healthcare services.

According to Mr. Kayjlay, the donation fulfills part of the senator’s 2020 political commitment to support health facilities and improve service delivery for citizens who often face difficulties accessing quality healthcare.
“This donation is about saving lives and supporting those on the frontline of healthcare,” Mr. Kayjlay said, emphasizing the senator’s desire to make a meaningful contribution to the well-being of Grand Kru residents.

Although a detailed inventory of the donated items was not immediately provided, members of the County Health Team expressed appreciation to Senator Bartekwa for honoring his pledge and responding to the county’s pressing health needs.

Receiving the supplies in the absence of the County Health Officer, the Community Health Department Director (CHDD), Mr. David Jeddi, described the donation as timely, especially as health facilities across the county continue to face shortages of essential medical items.

After inspecting the supplies, Mr. Jeddi told reporters that most of the items were in usable condition and would play a critical role in addressing common health cases throughout the county, bringing relief to both healthcare workers and patients.

The donation is expected to strengthen healthcare delivery in Grand Kru County and restore hope to communities that rely heavily on public health facilities for care and survival.
