Citizens of District #2 in Grand Kru County, including local residents and miners, have disclosed that more than ten people are reported dead annually during the rainy season while attempting to cross River Dorbor due to the lack of a bridge.
Speaking to Verity Online News on February 21, 2026, at the water crossing site, a legal miner and broker expressed serious concern over what he described as a “death trap” situation for residents and breadwinners.
The absence of a bridge over River Dorbor continues to negatively affect the lives of citizens, particularly those traveling between Civilize Village, Sass Town, and Bolloh Nyenkupunh. Residents say they risk their lives daily in order to provide food for their families.
According to community members, the least reported number of deaths during the rainy season accounts for more than ten persons, in addition to significant losses of goods and properties while crossing the river.
“We are in a total death race,” one resident lamented, calling on the national government to urgently intervene.
The citizens made a direct appeal to President Joseph Nyumah Boakai to facilitate the immediate construction of a bridge over River Dorbor to ensure safe movement and protect lives.
Residents believe that constructing the bridge would not only prevent further loss of life but also improve economic activities in the area.
