The mother of a 16-year-old girl who was allegedly drugged and gang-raped by ten boys in the Zubah Town Community, Paynesville City, has broken her silence in a heart-wrenching appeal for justice and support.
The alleged incident occurred on February 22, 2026, after the teenager had attended a birthday celebration for a friend within the community. According to the mother, what was meant to be a joyful evening turned into a nightmare.
“She went to celebrate her friend’s birthday. After the party, while she was on her way home, those boys grabbed her and tied her mouth,” the grieving mother recounted. “They drugged my child and destroyed her life.”
The mother alleged that her daughter was overpowered by a group of ten boys who carried out the brutal assault. The case has since sparked fear and outrage among residents of Zubah Town and surrounding communities.
She explained that the Liberia National Police (LNP) have arrested four suspects are currently in custody at the Zone 8 Police Depot, while six others remain on the run.
The survivor is currently under the protection of the Women and Children Protection Section of the LNP and has been taken to a safe home while undergoing medical treatment and psychosocial support.
“My daughter is in pain. She needs proper medication and counseling,” the mother pleaded. “I am calling on the government, organizations, and good-hearted Liberians to help me get justice for my child and help her recover.”
The mother also expressed concern about the trauma her daughter is facing, describing her as emotionally shaken and fearful since the incident.
Community members are calling for swift prosecution and stronger measures to protect young girls from sexual violence. As the investigation continues, many are demanding that authorities ensure that all alleged perpetrators are arrested and brought before the court without delay.
The case adds to growing concerns about sexual and gender-based violence in Liberia, with advocates urging parents, community leaders, and law enforcement to intensify awareness and protection efforts.
Meanwhile, the mother says she will not rest until justice is served.
