President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has issued a stern warning, vowing to dismiss any member found undermining his government.
The Liberian leader delivered the warning on Thursday during a Special Cabinet Meeting held in the capital, Monrovia. In remarks directed at members of his government, the President stressed that acts of disloyalty or internal sabotage would not be tolerated under his leadership.
“For those of you who are in government and want to serve as underminers of the same government, mind you, if we find out about you, I promise you, you will be fired,” President Boakai declared firmly during the meeting.
Although the President did not identify specific individuals or provide details about any particular incident, his statement appeared to reflect concerns about possible internal divisions or actions that could weaken the administration’s efforts to govern effectively.
The warning comes at a time when the Boakai administration is pursuing a number of policy initiatives and reform programs aimed at improving governance, strengthening institutions, and advancing national development. Observers believe the President’s comments were intended to reinforce discipline, accountability, and unity among senior government officials responsible for implementing these priorities.
President Boakai emphasized that individuals appointed to public office must remain committed to the mission of public service and the broader goals of the administration. According to him, government officials have a duty to support national progress rather than engage in actions that could obstruct the work of the government.
Political analysts say the President’s remarks signal a determination to maintain cohesion within the administration and ensure that those entrusted with leadership roles remain loyal to the government’s agenda.
“The President appears to be sending a clear message that internal sabotage or political maneuvering within government institutions will not be tolerated,” one political observer noted.
The Special Cabinet Meeting formed part of ongoing consultations between the President and senior government officials on governance priorities, performance across ministries and agencies, and strategies to address national challenges.
As the administration moves forward with its development agenda, the President’s warning underscores his intention to demand loyalty, discipline, and accountability from members of his government while emphasizing the need for collective action in advancing Liberia’s national interests.
