The Liberia National Police has elevated Liberian economist Samuel Jackson from a person of interest to a suspect in an ongoing investigation into the death of his South African wife, Toni Khumalo Jackson.
Police Inspector General Gregory Coleman confirmed that Jackson, 73, will remain in detention pending his arraignment scheduled for Tuesday, March 17, 2026. Authorities say Jackson and another suspect are currently in police custody as the investigation continues.
According to police, the case involves an alleged homicide linked to the death of Toni, who reportedly died under mysterious circumstances. In an earlier statement, the police said investigators observed “bruises and lacerations on the body” during their preliminary assessment.
The Liberia National Police says the investigation remains ongoing as forensic and other evidentiary processes continue.
