MOH Staff Undergo Capacity-Building Workshop to Strengthen Workplace Standards

The Ministry of Health has concluded a two-day intensive capacity-building workshop aimed at strengthening workplace standards across its operational units, as part of ongoing efforts to improve institutional efficiency and service delivery.

Held in Kakata, Margibi County, the training brought together more than 50 staff members drawn from the Housekeeping, Mail, and Maintenance Units of the Ministry.

The initiative reflects a broader institutional commitment to enhancing internal systems that support public health operations.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry, the workshop was designed to “strengthen environmental cleaning, mail handling, and maintenance services across its operational units,” while promoting professionalism and adherence to established standards.

Participants engaged in practical and theoretical sessions focused on improving workplace efficiency, reinforcing hygiene protocols, and ensuring consistent service delivery across departments.

A significant portion of the training was dedicated to the Housekeeping Unit, which accounted for 30 participants.

The sessions emphasized the importance of environmental cleaning as a critical component of workplace safety and public health.

Facilitators guided participants through best practices in cleaning techniques, including the proper use of cleaning agents in different environments such as office spaces, restrooms, and outdoor areas.

The Ministry stated that the training aimed to “improve cleaning skills, ensure the appropriate use of materials, and promote effective waste management practices in all operational settings.”

In addition to technical skills, the workshop underscored the importance of maintaining high hygiene standards, particularly within government institutions that serve large numbers of staff and visitors.

For the Mail Unit, discussions centered on improving mail handling systems, ensuring timely distribution, and safeguarding the confidentiality of official correspondence.

Meanwhile, participants from the Maintenance Unit received training on preventive maintenance strategies, with a focus on reducing downtime and prolonging the lifespan of essential equipment and infrastructure.

Officials noted that strengthening these support services is essential to the overall functioning of the Ministry, as they form the backbone of daily operations.

The Ministry emphasized that investing in staff capacity is a key pillar of its reform agenda, particularly in areas that directly impact workplace safety and operational efficiency.

“This initiative is part of our continuous effort to build a competent and responsive workforce capable of upholding the highest standards,” the Ministry said in its statement.

The workshop concluded with a renewed commitment from participants to apply the knowledge gained, with expectations that the improvements will translate into enhanced service delivery within the Ministry and beyond.
