LACE Under Fire as Kolubah Pushes for Accountability on Road Project Delay

By: Archie Boan

Montserrado County District #10 Representative Yekeh Kolubah is mounting pressure on the Liberia Agency for Community Empowerment (LACE), calling on the House of Representatives to summon the institution to plenary to account for funds intended for district development.

Representative Kolubah is alleging that despite repeated appeals to LACE leadership, his requests for the construction or rehabilitation of a major road in District #10 have been consistently ignored, raising fresh questions about the management and disbursement of development resources meant for local communities.

According to the lawmaker, several efforts were made to engage LACE over the road project, but those appeals reportedly yielded no positive response. Kolubah’s frustration has now spilled onto the floor of the House, where he is seeking legislative intervention to compel the agency to explain its actions or lack thereof.

During its regular session on Thursday, members of the House of Representatives agreed that the head of LACE should appear before the special leadership of the House to provide clarity on the agency’s continued refusal to respond to the District #10 lawmaker’s request.

The decision comes as lawmakers have adjourned for legislative break, but the matter has been deemed serious enough to warrant attention even during the recess. The LACE boss is now expected to appear on Monday, March 23, 2026, before the House’s special leadership.

The planned appearance is likely to put LACE under intense scrutiny, especially as concerns deepen over accountability and the handling of public funds allocated for district-level development projects.
