Turkish Airlines has finally announced that its first flight from Turkey to Liberia will commence on Monday, May 11, 2026 according to a circular posted on its website.
After more than 14 months of sustained engagement and technical coordination, Turkish Airlines has officially announced the launch of its first direct flight connecting Turkey to Liberia, marking a significant milestone in the country’s aviation history.
According to an official circular published by the airline, the inaugural flight is scheduled for Monday, May 11, 2026. The development establishes a new air bridge between Monrovia and Istanbul, one of the world’s major aviation hubs.
The airline disclosed that a round-trip Economy Class ticket for the Monrovia–Istanbul route will cost approximately US$1,346, positioning the service within a competitive range for long-haul international travel.
Industry observers have described the move as a major boost to Liberia’s connectivity, potentially enhancing trade, tourism, and diplomatic engagement between West Africa and Europe, Asia, and beyond.
Officials at the LCAA have welcomed the announcement, noting that the achievement reflects the government’s broader efforts to attract reputable international carriers and strengthen the country’s aviation infrastructure.
“This is the result of months of strategic dialogue, technical assessments, and mutual commitment,” a senior aviation official familiar with the discussions said, emphasizing the importance of compliance with international safety and operational standards.
Turkish Airlines, widely recognized for serving the most countries globally, stated that the new route aligns with its mission to expand its global network and connect underserved destinations to major transit points.
Passengers traveling on the route can expect what the airline described as “privilege and comfort,” including modern in-flight services, connectivity options, and access to its extensive global network through Istanbul.
Economic analysts suggest that the new connection could stimulate business travel and foreign investment, while also providing members of the Liberian diaspora with more convenient access to home.
Tourism stakeholders have also expressed optimism, citing the potential for increased visitor arrivals and greater international visibility for Liberia as a destination.
As preparations continue ahead of the inaugural flight, both Liberian authorities and Turkish Airlines appear poised to usher in a new era of international air travel, signaling Liberia’s growing integration into the global aviation network.
