The Citizens’ Movement for Change (CMC), through its National Executive Committee (NEC), has announced the indefinite suspension of Hon. Jerry Korlubah Yogboh from his position as Vice Chair for Finance & Investment/National Treasurer and from all rights and privileges associated with party membership, pending the outcome of a formal investigation.
The decision follows Hon. Yogboh’s actions in associating himself with the removal of Hon. Yekeh Y. Kolubah from the House of Representatives, conduct the party says stands in direct contradiction to CMC’s principled position in defense of constitutional order, due process, and democratic governance.
CMC emphasized that this action is not merely disciplinary, but a reaffirmation that no individual, regardless of rank or position, is above the principles, values, and constitutional obligations of the movement.
“At a time when the rule of law and democratic norms are under strain, the CMC will remain steadfast in defending constitutionalism, internal discipline, and political accountability” the party said.
The NEC noted that the party’s opposition to the removal of Hon. Kolubah has always been grounded in principle, rooted in concerns over procedural irregularities, the absence of due process, and the dangerous precedent such actions could set for Liberia’s democratic institutions. Against that backdrop, the party said Hon.
Yogboh’s conduct represented a serious breach of party discipline and a departure from the values that bind the movement together.
The matter has been referred to the Claims, Petitions and Investigation Committee (CPIC) for a ful investigation, after which recommendations will be submitted to the NEC for final action.
CMC underscored that due process will govern the proceedings.
The party said the decision sends a clear message that fidelity to principle is not negotiable and that CMC will continue to hold its own officials to the same standards of accountability it demands in public life.
The Citizens’ Movement for Change remains unwavering in its belief that democratic values moreoverm both national institutions and the conduct of those entrusted to lead within the movement.
