Nimba County — The Nimba County Health Team has announced that renovation and expansion works at the Gbloulay Community Clinic are nearing completion, marking a significant step toward improving healthcare access in the region.
The project is being implemented in partnership with Action Against Hunger (AAH/ACF) and funded by the French Development Agency (AFD). Once finalized, the upgraded facility is expected to serve more than 7,000 residents across 10 surrounding communities within the Buu Yao Health District.
Health authorities say the transformation of the clinic includes major infrastructure improvements designed to enhance service delivery and patient care. The facility now features running water, a stable electricity supply, upgraded sanitation systems, and modern waste management infrastructure.
Officials note that the improvements will not only strengthen the clinic’s capacity to provide essential health services but also contribute to safer and more hygienic conditions for both patients and healthcare workers.
The renovation forms part of broader efforts to expand access to quality healthcare in rural and underserved areas of Nimba County. Local leaders and residents have welcomed the development, expressing optimism that the upgraded clinic will reduce the need for long-distance travel to seek medical attention.
Completion of the project is expected soon, after which the facility will be fully operational and open to the public.
