Mr. Church’s “Sermon” EP Gains Nationwide Praise

Liberia’s hip-hop and Hipco scene is witnessing a fresh wave of excitement following the release of a new Extended Play (EP) by rapper Joseph Odoh Jr., popularly known as Mr. Church.

Titled “Sermon,” the nine-track EP is already making rounds across the country and among Liberians in the diaspora. The project features a mix of introspective and socially conscious songs, including “Intro,” “Wake Up,” “Ghetto,” “Let It Shine,” “Culture,” “Higher,” “Nobody Loyal,” “Outcomes ADHD,” and “Anubis.”

Since its release, “Sermon” has drawn widespread admiration for its sound quality and impactful messaging, with many listeners describing it as a significant contribution to Liberia’s evolving entertainment landscape.

Veteran sports journalist T. Kla Wesley Jr. shared his thoughts on social media, praising the EP’s overall quality. In a Facebook post, he described the project as “top quality,” adding that it is something listeners can “sit with and enjoy anywhere.” He singled out the track “Nobody Loyal” as a standout, noting that the artist’s confidence is now fully backed by the strength of the project.

Popular Liberian DJ and event planner, DJ Weezy also endorsed the EP, calling it “dope” and encouraging fans to support it widely.

Fans have likewise joined in celebrating the release. One listener, Mulbah Kshia Kollie, expressed high praise on Facebook, describing Mr. Church’s artistry as “unbending, unmatched, and underrated.” The fan added that the EP’s replay value stood out, noting a desire to listen repeatedly from start to finish.

With growing recognition from both industry figures and fans, “Sermon” appears to be solidifying Mr. Church’s place as a notable voice in Liberia’s music scene.
