The Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) has honored 46 of the country’s leading taxpayers, businesses, and institutions following what it describes as Liberia’s strongest-ever domestic revenue performance. The recognition highlights the growing role of tax compliance in supporting national development.
The event took place at a Taxpayers Appreciation Awards Dinner held at Paynesville City Hall, where individuals and organizations were recognized for timely payments, consistent compliance, and major contributions to government revenue during the 2024 and 2025 fiscal years.
Orange Liberia Limited emerged as the top overall taxpayer, receiving the Gold Award. Monrovia Breweries Inc. placed second, while ArcelorMittal Liberia came in third.
Firestone Liberia LLC was recognized as the highest contributor in Real Property Tax. Orange Liberia also led the Large Tax Division, while ArcelorMittal Liberia topped the Natural Resource Tax category.
In other categories, WBHO SC Limited was named leading taxpayer in the Medium Tax Division, and Force Security Enterprise topped the Small Tax Division. In education and faith-based institutions, the African Methodist Episcopal University and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints were recognized for their contributions.
In the trade sector, Fouani Brothers Corporation led in general merchandise, while Conex Petroleum Service was the top contributor in petroleum. Providence Clearing and Forwarding Services was also acknowledged for maintaining strong compliance among customs brokers.
Within the financial sector, Ecobank Liberia Limited was recognized as the highest tax-contributing bank, while Lone Star MTN Mobile Money led in digital finance contributions.
Among public institutions, the Ministry of Mines and Energy was recognized as the highest tax-contributing ministry, and the Liberia Maritime Authority received recognition for leading PAYE contributions among state-owned enterprises.
Speaking at the ceremony, LRA Commissioner General James Dorbor Jallah praised taxpayers for helping Liberia reach record domestic revenue levels for two consecutive years. He noted that the country surpassed its 2025 revenue target of US$804 million, the highest in its history.
He added that domestic revenue has increased by about US$273 million over the past two years-more than the total growth recorded in the previous thirteen years combined. According to him, full compliance is now the expected standard.
“Liberia is rising, and it is rising on the shoulders of its taxpayers,” Jallah said, reaffirming the LRA’s commitment to expanding the tax base, improving digital services, simplifying tax processes, and strengthening the fight against tax evasion.
For his part, Bong County Senator Prince K. Moye, who chairs the Senate Committee on Ways, Means, Finance and Budget, also commended the initiative and encouraged citizens and businesses to continue meeting their tax obligations.
The event was held under the theme “From Vision to Reality: Taxpayers Delivering a Billion Dollar Budget.” It brought together government officials, private sector actors, development partners, and members of the public.
The awards form part of the LRA’s annual Taxpayer Appreciation Month, which also includes community outreach programs such as donations to health facilities, student engagement activities, tax education campaigns, and other public awareness initiatives.
Since its launch in 2017, the program has aimed to recognize compliant taxpayers, promote voluntary compliance, and encourage broader participation in national development through taxation.
