A Verity investigation has revealed that County Service Center (CSC) Coordinators across Liberia are calling on the Ministry of Local Government to urgently address delays in salary payments, unclear employment status, and poor working conditions affecting their operations nationwide.
According to a statement obtained by this paper, the coordinators said they have continued serving under difficult conditions since assuming office in June 2025, with many still awaiting regular salaries and benefits.
“Some coordinators have not received any salary or benefits since the beginning of 2026, while others continue to survive under extremely difficult conditions,” the statement noted.
The coordinators also highlighted serious logistical and operational challenges confronting County Service Centers, including a lack of transportation and other essential resources needed to effectively reach communities and deliver government services.
They warned that the situation is undermining efforts to strengthen decentralization and improve public service delivery across the counties.
The coordinators are therefore calling on the government to place all CSC officials on the national payroll, ensure timely payment of salaries, and provide adequate operational support for County Service Centers throughout the country.
They also appealed to the World Bank and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to support efforts aimed at strengthening Liberia’s decentralization agenda.
Despite the ongoing challenges, the coordinators reaffirmed their commitment to serving the Liberian people and contributing to national development.
