A total of 343 senior secondary students from seven accredited high schools across River Gee County are expected to sit the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), scheduled to begin in early June.
The students, all twelfth graders, are drawn from qualified institutions located within the county’s educational districts of Webo, Potupo, and Gbeapo, according to data gathered by this paper.
The examination, administered by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) Liberia, will involve candidates from four public high schools, two private institutions, and one faith-based school.
The participating schools include Webo High School, Tweh Jaiklay High School, Fish-Town Community Junior and Senior High School, Gbeapo Multilateral High School, Rev. Henry T. Keah High School, United Methodist High School, and Kelvin Sorem High School, the county’s lone faith-based institution.
Statistics released by school authorities show that Gbeapo Multilateral High School, located in the county’s commercial hub, recorded the highest number of registered candidates with 119 students. Tweh Jaiklay High School in Fish Town follows with 93 registered candidates.
Fish-Town Community Junior and Senior High School registered 42 students, while Kelvin Sorem High School registered 34 candidates. United Methodist High School registered 23 students, Rev. Henry T. Keah High School 17 students, and Webo High School 15 students.
Authorities said complete gender statistics are still being compiled, as only a few schools have submitted detailed male and female enrollment figures.
Educational stakeholders in the county believe this year’s enrollment reflects increased student participation compared to the 2025 WASSCE period, signaling growing interest and progress in secondary education across River Gee County.
The 2026 WASSCE is expected to officially commence on June 1, 2026, under the supervision of WAEC Liberia.
