The Managing Director of the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC), Hon. Mohamed M. Sherif, has announced that the Mount Coffee Hydropower Plant has been fully rehabilitated and restored to its maximum electricity generation capacity of 88 megawatts.
Speaking during the dedication of Liberia’s new 20-megawatt solar farm, Sherif informed President Joseph Boakai and other dignitaries that the hydropower facility is now fully operational.
“Mr. President, Mount Coffee has been fully rehabilitated and is now back in service. With this achievement, Mount Coffee has been restored to its full generating capacity of 88 megawatts,” Sherif declared.
The announcement marks a significant milestone in Liberia’s efforts to strengthen its energy sector and improve electricity supply across the country.
The rehabilitation of Mount Coffee, coupled with the commissioning of the 20MW solar farm, is expected to enhance power generation and support the government’s broader goal of expanding access to reliable and affordable electricity.
