Former Representative and senior member of the opposition Moses Acarous Gray has accused the administration of Joseph Nyuma Boakai of taking credit for a solar energy project that was allegedly initiated during the government of former President George Manneh Weah.
In a Facebook post following the unveiling of a solar project at Mount Coffee Hydropower Plant on Friday, June 5, Gray described officials of the Unity Party-led government as “project rogues,” alleging that the project was conceived, funded, and developed under the previous administration.
Gray claimed that the Weah administration secured funding for the project and laid the groundwork for its implementation long before the current government took office. According to him, the Boakai administration has not initiated any major development project capable of being completed during its first two and a half years in office.
“They run around with things they have no knowledge about and are rushing to take the credit,” Gray asserted, arguing that the Unity Party government lacks a clear development vision.
The former lawmaker further maintained that documentary evidence exists showing that the project originated under the Weah administration and insisted that “facts are not debatable like opinions.”
The Boakai administration has not publicly responded to Gray’s allegations. However, government officials have highlighted the solar project as part of ongoing efforts to improve Liberia’s energy infrastructure and expand access to electricity.
