A group of more than 100 aggrieved workers gathered to protest before the Rehab residence of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, claiming that they remain unpaid for several months after they were hired to clean areas surrounding President Boakai’s residence and nearby communities.
The leader of the group, Moriba Conde, said that an Executive Protection Service (EPS) agent named Matthew Walker hired more than 100 of them to clean the streets from ELWA Junction to Duazon.
According to Conde, EPS agent Walker agreed to pay each worker US$50 every month for their services rendered. The group alleged that despite working for the past three months, they have not been paid.
Conde explained that multiple efforts to contact Walker about their salaries have proved futile, noting that Walker often allegedly responds by insulting them whenever they try to inquire about their pay.
“We have families to take care of, including mothers, brothers, sisters, and children. We depend on this money to meet our basic needs,” Conde said.
When contacted, the EPS agent acknowledged that he owed the workers but appealed to them to exercise patience. He assured them that they would receive two months of their salaries on Friday, June 26, 2026.
As workers continue to demand the full settlement of all arears, the matter may seem unresolved entirely.
