Monrovia, Liberia — Former Vice President and former First Lady Jewel Howard-Taylor says there are some handbag political parties in Liberia that don’t just need easy rides to elections.
According to the Former Vice President, the reduction in the registration fees for electoral candidates in the country especially for the Presidency is giving rise to the influx of political parties she described as handbag political parties.
Speaking on Prime FM’s Flagship Program “Night Time Heat,” Friday, Madam Howard-Taylor noted that individuals with no value and contribution have been given the opportunity to easily maneuver into elections that should be for serious minded Liberians with vision and the qualities of a leader.
Madam Howard-Taylor is also calling for the cancellation of political parties who keep accumulating 1% or 2% in elections, stating that these parties should rather join other big political institutions to formulate a coalition.
The Former Vice President is intensifying calls for the increment in registration fees for electoral candidates, especially the Presidency.
