‎LDEA burns over L$10 million worth of drugs in Grand Gedeh, vows relentless crackdown on traffickers

‎ZWEDRU, Grand Gedeh County – The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), Grand Gedeh County Detachment, has destroyed a massive cache of illegal narcotics with a combined street value exceeding L$10 million, sending a strong warning to drug traffickers and dealers operating within the county.

‎According to official statistics released by the LDEA ahead of the drug-burning exercise, the destroyed substances included large quantities of marijuana, kush, cocaine, tramadol pills, and chemical precursors confiscated during various anti-drug operations across the county.

‎The report disclosed that 343.54 kilograms of marijuana were destroyed, with an estimated street value of US$34,354, equivalent to approximately L$6.53 million.

‎The agency also burned 241 grams of kush, valued at US$4,820 (about L$915,800), and 158.8 grams of cocaine, with an estimated street value of US$8,575.20, equivalent to more than L$1.62 million.

‎Additionally, authorities destroyed 3,992 tramadol pills, valued at US$4,202.05 (approximately L$798,400), along with 413.7 grams of precursor chemicals worth US$744.66, equivalent to over L$141,000.

‎The destruction formed part of activities marking the observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, demonstrating the LDEA’s commitment to combating the spread of dangerous narcotics in Grand Gedeh County.

‎The agency reaffirmed that it will continue intensifying operations against drug dealers, traffickers, and criminal networks responsible for the distribution of illegal substances, stressing that no individual engaged in the illicit drug trade will be spared under the law.

‎The LDEA further called on residents to support the fight against drugs by reporting suspected traffickers and dealers, emphasizing that community cooperation remains critical to protecting young people and ensuring a safer, drug-free Grand Gedeh.
