River Gee County | July 26, 2026 | Fresh developments have emerged in the widely discussed case involving Asha Bangoura, who was reportedly arrested in River Gee County in connection with the alleged possession of 60 plates of compressed marijuana.
Speaking to Verity News reporter, River Gee County Attorney Cllr. Daniel T.K. Dweh clarified that the defense lawyer representing Asha Bangoura formally requested that the case be transferred to the 7th Judicial Circuit Court on July 6, 2026.
Addressing reports that the suspect may have been released, Cllr. Dweh stated: “If Asha is free or has been granted bail, it is not to our knowledge as the judicial authorities of River Gee County.”
His statement comes amid increasing public concern and widespread discussions over the current status of the case.
Meanwhile, reports circulating in River Gee County claim that Asha Bangoura, who was previously remanded at the Fish-Town Prison following the alleged arrest, has reportedly been seen outside detention.
According to those reports, officers assigned to the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency – LDEA- in the county were allegedly not notified of any release.
One LDEA officer assigned in the county, who spoke to our reporter, claimed:
“After attending class today, I personally saw Asha Bangoura walking in the Vai Town area. She was seen crossing the Gabriel Tucker Bridge toward Central Monrovia.”
As of the time of publication, there has been no official confirmation from the judiciary or the LDEA headquarters regarding the reported release or the legal status of the accused.
