GBARNGA, Bong County – Deputy Speaker of the 55th House of Representatives, Thomas Fallah, has described Lofa County as a political stronghold of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, declaring that opposition political parties should not expect to gain political support in the county.
Fallah made the remarks during the dedication of the 81-kilometer Gbarnga–Salayea Road, where he underscored Lofa County’s unwavering support for the President.
While emphasizing that Liberia’s Constitution guarantees freedom of movement and association, the Deputy Speaker said all Liberians are welcome to visit Lofa County. He encouraged visitors to experience the county’s hospitality, cultural heritage, traditional palm wine, local cuisine, and build social relationships, including marriage, as long as they conduct themselves respectfully.
However, Fallah distinguished between social visits and political activities, stating that Lofa County remains firmly aligned with President Boakai and the ruling establishment.
Speaking on behalf of the Lofa County Legislative Caucus and other county leaders, he described Lofa as a “no-go zone” for opposition political parties, asserting that although political opponents are free to enter the county, they should not expect to receive political backing.
He further argued that President Boakai deserves overwhelming electoral support from Lofa County, declaring that the President should receive “99.9 percent” of the votes in the county.
The remarks were made during the official commissioning of the Gbarnga–Salayea Road, a key infrastructure project expected to enhance transportation and boost economic activities between Bong and Lofa counties.
