Monrovia – Liberian media specialist and journalist Garmondeh Wremongar Blojay-Joe has raised concerns over the condition of schools operated by the Liberian Agricultural Company (LAC), describing the learning environment as unsafe and unfit for students.
In a public statement accompanied by photographs, Blojay-Joe alleged that LAC’s 11 elementary and junior high schools and one senior high school across its plantation in Grand Bassa County are in deplorable condition. He claimed the facilities have broken doors, cracked walls, poorly maintained classrooms, and unsanitary bathrooms.
Blojay-Joe questioned why LAC, which has operated in Liberia since 1959, has allegedly failed to carry out basic maintenance on its educational facilities despite its long-standing presence in the country.
He disclosed that he is compiling the images into a formal digital report for submission to the Grand Bassa Legislative Caucus, the National Bureau of Concessions, and the Ministry of Education, urging the institutions to investigate and intervene.
Blojay-Joe further announced plans to document the living conditions of plantation workers, saying the public deserves to know the full extent of conditions within the concession.
LAC had not publicly responded to the allegations at the time of publication.
