The 13th Judicial Circuit Court in Kakata, Margibi County has sentenced Quita Dolo Kosso to a five-year jail term after she pleaded guilty to trafficking more than three kilograms of cocaine through Roberts International Airport (RIA).
Resident Judge Victoria Worlobah Duncan accepted Kosso’s guilty plea after determining that she made the decision freely and understood the consequences of admitting to the offence.
According to court records, Kosso was arrested after arriving at RIA from Bangkok, Thailand, in July 2025 with 3.355 kilograms of cocaine concealed in her luggage.
Prosecutors told the court the drugs have an estimated street value of more than US$181,000, making the seizure one of the major cocaine interceptions at Liberia’s main international airport.
Following her guilty plea, the court imposed a sentence, bringing her case to an end without the need for a full trial.
The case, however, has widened beyond Kosso. Prosecutors allege that several other people were involved in the trafficking operation.
Among those standing trials are officers of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) and other defendants accused of participating in the alleged drug trafficking scheme.
The court was informed that two of the accused have already pleaded guilty, while the remaining defendants have denied the charges and are defending themselves before the court.
The prosecution continues to present evidence against the remaining accused as the trial proceeds in the 13th Judicial Circuit Court.
