An investigation by Verity News has uncovered pieces of evidence, allegedly revealing a direct link and association between recused LDEA Boss Fitzgerald Biago and an alleged member of the drug cartel, Jonathan Adam Momolu, who is also under investigation in connection with the US$336 million drug bust.
The claims were made by Martin K.N. Kollie, an exiled Liberian activist, who is questioning statements attributed to Biago that he does not know Jonathan A. Momolu and has never had any dealings with him.
Kollie says photographs and other information in his possession tell a different story.
“LDEA Biago publicly said he has no association or link and have not met anyone called Jonathan A. Momolu,” Kollie said.
According to Kollie, Momolu was among people seen with Biago before Biago travelled to the United States on August 16, 2025.
Kollie alleges that Momolu drove Biago to Roberts International Airport that day and says a photograph showing the two men was previously posted on Biago’s official Facebook page.
The activist is now asking why Biago would deny knowing Momolu if, as he claims, the two had been seen together on several occasions.
Who Drove Biago?
Kollie further alleges that Momolu worked as one of Biago’s drivers while Biago was in charge of the LDEA.
He says Momolu was not an employee of the agency on the government’s payroll, but allegedly worked directly with Biago.
Kollie also names Titus White as another person who, according to him, drove Biago.
“Momolu is not in the employ of the LDEA. Yes, Momolu is not because he is not on Civil Servant payroll. However, Momolu has been and is working/driving for you as the OIC of the LDEA and not as an employed driver of the LDEA,” Kollie alleged.
The claim has not been independently confirmed by Verity News.
Momolu’s RIA Past
Kollie has also raised questions about Momolu’s previous work at Roberts International Airport.
He points to a 2023 drug case involving a substance that was reportedly presented as moringa tea but was later identified through testing as methamphetamine.
Kollie says Momolu was identified in reports concerning that incident as a Senior Inspector at RIA.
He alleges that the case did not go anywhere because Momolu had protection from powerful people.
That claim has not been independently established, and Verity News has not found sufficient evidence to determine why the 2023 matter did not result in prosecution.
Private Bar Connection
Kollie also alleges that Momolu has a business relationship with Private Bar Nightclub and its CEO, George Harris, also known as Leroy Harris.
Harris is currently facing drug-related charges in Liberia over allegations that he was involved in an international cocaine trafficking operation.
Kollie claims Momolu and Harris have maintained close ties and says both have connections to the Netherlands.
He further alleges that the two men may have links to Dutch fugitive Jos Leijdekkers, widely known as “Bolle Jos.”
Those allegations have not been proven in court.
Photos Raise Questions
Kollie has circulated photographs which he says show Momolu around Biago and members of the former LDEA chief’s office.
He identifies people in one photograph as Madusu Kromah, Henry Seh and Joeletha K. Joe, whom he describes as members of Biago’s staff.
Momolu is also seen in the photograph, according to Kollie.
Kollie has challenged Biago to explain the photographs and the nature of his relationship with Momolu.
“Why did Biago had to even LIE that Momolu is not his driver or he does not know Momolu?” Kollie asked.
Whether Biago’s statement amounts to a lie cannot be determined from photographs alone. The circumstances surrounding the relationship would have to be established through further investigation and the testimony or records of the people involved.
A Bigger Question
The allegations come at a time when Liberia is under intense pressure to deal with international drug trafficking.
The massive cocaine investigation has raised concerns about how traffickers operate in Liberia, who helps them move their shipments and whether anyone within the country’s security institutions has assisted them.
Kollie alleges that drug traffickers have managed to build relationships with people inside Liberia’s security agencies.
“The hard truth is that the Drug Cartel succeeded in infiltrating and neutralizing the national security sector, especially the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) and the Liberia National Police (LNP),” he alleged.
Kollie says he intends to release more information concerning people he believes are connected to the alleged network.
For now, the central question remains whether Biago’s relationship with Momolu was simply personal or professional-or whether it went further.
The photographs and documents cited by Kollie may provide investigators with leads, but they do not by themselves prove that either Biago or Momolu participated in drug trafficking.
