Grand Kru County District #2 Representative Cllr. Jonathan Fonati Koffa has raised concerns over the county’s preparations for the upcoming National County Sports Meet, questioning the absence of a dedicated stadium and the status of government road construction equipment.
In a message posted Sunday, August 9, Koffa challenged discussions about alternative venues for sporting activities, arguing that the development of a proper playing pitch had previously been identified as a priority for Grand Kru.
“Playing pitch was a priority. Now you’re saying picnices. If there is no stadium built for the County Meet let’s just leave our own with God,” Koffa stated.
The lawmaker also recalled the weather conditions in Grand Kru and the criticism directed at the previous administration over its failure to construct a stadium in the county.
“We knew the weather in Grand Kru when we were condemning Weah for not building stadium,” he said.
Koffa further questioned the whereabouts of government road construction equipment, commonly referred to as “yellow machines,” which have been part of public discussions about road development across Liberia.
“Weh the yellow machines sef?” he asked.
His comments have renewed debate over development priorities in Grand Kru, where residents continue to face infrastructure challenges, particularly concerning roads and public facilities.
Koffa, who served in a senior leadership position in the House of Representatives during the former Weah administration, has remained vocal on national and county development issues.
The latest concerns come as Grand Kru prepares for major sporting activities, placing renewed attention on whether promised infrastructure projects will be delivered.
For many residents, the stadium debate and questions surrounding the “yellow machines” extend beyond sports, touching on broader issues of government commitments, infrastructure development and accountability in Grand Kru County.
