Liberia and the United States have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in the investigation and dismantling of organized drug trafficking networks operating in the country.
The commitment was renewed during a follow-up meeting between Liberia’s Minister of Justice and Attorney General and the Chargé d’Affaires of the United States Embassy in Monrovia.
According to the Ministry of Justice, the meeting focused on ongoing cooperation and support for Liberia’s drug investigations, with the U.S. Government reaffirming its commitment to helping strengthen the Ministry’s capacity to investigate and dismantle transnational drug trafficking networks.
The Justice Ministry said the partnership has now moved beyond discussions, with U.S. technical personnel currently working alongside Liberian investigators and prosecutors to support ongoing investigative activities.
The Minister welcomed the continued U.S. partnership, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation in addressing organized crime and drug trafficking.
The Ministry further assured the public that it remains committed to conducting thorough, impartial, and evidence-based investigations as Liberia intensifies its efforts to combat transnational organized crime.
The latest development comes amid heightened attention to Liberia’s fight against drug trafficking and ongoing investigations involving suspected organized narcotics networks.
