MONROVIA, Liberia — Information Minister Jerolinmek Matthew Piah has confirmed that former Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor has been invited to the Liberia National Police Headquarters as a person of interest in connection with the cocaine bust.
Minister Piah confirmed the development on State Radio, saying Howard-Taylor was stopped Wednesday morning while attempting to board an ASKY flight.
The former Vice President has also confirmed that she was prevented from leaving Liberia while preparing to travel to Accra, Ghana, to attend a women’s forum.
According to Howard-Taylor, she was informed that she was not permitted to leave the country and was directed to report to the police headquarters.
She said she was complying with the directive and was on her way to the police headquarters.
Authorities have not yet provided further details on the circumstances surrounding the restriction or her involvement in the ongoing investigation.
