The Executive Committee in collaboration with members of the Faculty Representative Council (FRC) of the Monrovia Consolidated School System Teacher Association (MCSSTA) has issued a joint resolution, demanding the unconditional resignation or dismissal over allegations of corruption and administrative malpractices.
The resolution, dated August 17, 2026, cites alleged corruption and administrative malpractice as reasons for the demand, although the document does not provide specific details of the alleged wrongdoing.
The teachers also called on the government to employ all MCSS volunteers as soon as possible and adjust the monthly salaries of degree and certificate holders within the school system.
They further urged the government to increase the salaries of all MCSS employees to help improve their living conditions.
Another key demand calls on President Joseph Nyuma Boakai to allow the MCSSTA leadership to recommend three qualified individuals, with master’s degrees in Education or Public Administration, for appointment as Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent.
The resolution also directs MCSS employees to stay away from all MCSS facilities until the government respects the Memorandum of Understanding signed on March 27, 2025, concerning the employment of volunteers, salary adjustments for credential holders, and salary increases for all employees.
The resolution was approved by MCSSTA President Augustine N. Nyormui and attested by FRC Chairman Victor S. W. Russell, with Executive Secretary Emmanuel M. Dickson also signing the document.
The teachers’ action places renewed pressure on the government to address longstanding concerns over employment, salaries, working conditions and leadership within the Monrovia Consolidated School System.
