Journalist D. Adam Togba writes a political allegorical poem titled: The Hunting Republic

“THE HUNTING REPUBLIC

– By: D. Adam Togba

The Chief Hunter has sharpened his arrows

and says he owes no one an apology.

The Exiled Hunter, far from home,

keeps dropping clues into the night,

swearing the cartels will find no hiding place.

Then a former Vice President becomes a person of interest.

The former Chief Hunter cries, “Witch hunt!”

The Chief Hunter fires back:

“Only witches and wizards can be witch-hunted.”

And Facebook catches fire.

Supporters roar from opposite sides of the forest,

while the hunt grows hotter.

But when the dust finally settles,

what will the hunt leave behind?

A safer Republic, a broken cartel, and justice served?

Or merely another noisy chase,

another drain on the nation’s time and treasure,

with the prey changing names

while the real predators remain in the shadows?”
