Amid rain season in Liberia, remote communities endure tougher challenges to find food for themselves due to inaccessible road network.
To serve a relieve, a non-for-profit, Restoring Health and Uplifting Souls for Heaven (RHUSH) on Sunday, August 23, donated more than fifty bags of 25kg rice to residents of Richard Town in Weala, Margibi County.
The project is part of the organization’s initiative tagged, Hunger Mission that aims to provide Liberian staple food (Rice) to underprivileged families in hard-to-reach areas.
According to the Executive Director of the organization, Mrs. Lois Whea Grant, the project intends to include more communities in Margibi, Montserrado and Bong counties; while “impacting underserved communities in most parts of Liberia and the African region remains an achievable target”.
At the donation in Richard Town, Weala, Margibi County, an elderly female, Tenneh Harris, lauded RHUSH for the Health Fair it hosted on April 26. 2026.
She went on to thank the group for the “timely donation of rice” during the peak of the rainy season.
Earlier this year, RHUSH hosted a health fair in Richard Town that brought together residents from as far as German Camp, Lakata and parts adjacent.
Madam Tenneh Harris was screened during the health fair right next door in her community, located a few miles from a health facility, speaking through an interpreter said “when RHUSH came here, many residents were reluctant to come out for the health fair, but those of us who attended got educated about our health and lifestyle diseases. We were screened/checked and encouraged to go to the hospital. I took those pieces of health tips seriously and I have been well and feel better”.
To a round of laughter from the crowd, Madam Harris said “after taking medications, appetite normally increases, making this donation of rice timely,” Tenneh Harris concluded.
According to records from the distribution center, “more than 300 people including family heads, the elderly, women and children directly benefited the gesture from RHUSH”, project coordinator, David Williams said.
RHUSH, a medical missionary group in beginning March, 2026 toured several communities including Harbel, Kakata and Richard Town, Margibi County, and Paynesville, Montserrado County with Health Fair – providing education on how to use everyday food as medicine to prevent, cure or reverse lifestyle diseases including high blood pressure, diabetes, stroke, heart diseases and various cancers.
The medical missionary (RHUSH), founded in the United States of America is currently constructing a Sanitarium (Lifestyle Center) in Charlesville Township, near the Roberts International Airport that will bring much-needed haven for restoring people and families’ health, one lifestyle change at a time.
